Alginates absorb wound exudates and form a gel-like covering over the wound, which maintains a moist wound healing environment. The gel-like surface also keeps the dressing from adhering to the wound, reducing removal pain. Premier Medical Plus Silver Alginate Dressing can restrain bacteria growth and reduce infection. Premier Medical Plus Silver Alginate Dressing has been tested in vitro and found to be effective against bacteria such as: Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae.
